The best

The most pleasurable game on my phone. Would that I could find another as enjoyable.

Good game, but...

The the game has an interesting plot that evolves and some true puzzlers that will keep you busy for quite some time. However, some of the solutions arent always things that make obvious sense. Also, keep in mind that some areas of the game that seem important may not be.

Great oldie

I wouldnt necessarily call this remastered. It looks exactly like the original. This is a great adventure game that is challenging and has a cool story.

A great game experience for most nostalgic game players.

This game definitely beats modern slice and dice games. A true classic.

Such a great game

Great to see this classic on iPhone. Very easy controls, great classic style. Love it.

Pretty good adventure game

Im probably one of the few people who never played the original back in the day, so this game was a completely new experience for me, in every respect. The art is top-notch, but the voice actors could use a little more training. Also, it could just be my perception of the game, but it seemed a bit short to me. The controls are about as good as an adventure games controls can be on a touchscreen and you get used to them in short order. The difficulty seems to be just about right for an adventure game. It seemed more difficult to me than a game should be, but thats probably just my advanced age talking. Regardless, the built-in hint system is great, offering up only the hints you need most of the time instead of always just hitting you over the head with the correct course of action. In all, a great adventure game that I would recommend to any fan of the genre!

A great time

The puzzles can sometimes be a little esoteric, but the built-in hint system keeps it accessible.

Great!

We need more games like this!!!!

iPad version

Sounds good to me

iPad, please

Great game. Please make this for the iPad!!!

Bug creates impass

There is a point when having to talk to Danielle Piedmont where you cannot have a conversation with her. I hit the talk button and he says "excuse me" but doesnt move to her and cant talk. So the game cannot continue.

Great game, but...

Dont get me wrong. I love this game. Its one of the best adventure games Ive ever played. If youre even remotely interested in the genre, by all means get this game. Its well worth the $2.99 theyre asking for. The puzzles are clever, the story is great, and the humor had me laughing really hard. The control is excellent, but it takes a while to get used to. It hits the perfect balance between Kings Quest and Monkey Island. The former where its so easy to lock yourself out and die, and the latter where you can do neither. In Steel Sky, you can die, but you will never reach a point where you cant complete it. Thank you! I really want to give it five stars, but there are a few problems that hold it back. On a few occasions, I have touched somewhere on the screen at the wrong time, and it has locked up my game. Basically, whenever you perform an action, the icons disappear momentarily. If you perform the wrong action at a specific time, the icons will stay gone. I fund myself waiting for my iPod to close the application, forcing me to *gasp!* do something productive. If the next version fixes this, I would be so happy. I hate productivity.

Not as good as I thought it would be...

Interesting plot I suppose, but some of the puzzles didnt make the most sense. I definitely wouldnt have gotten far without the hint system. Many parts of the game just seemed a bit too abstract. It was a very long game which was nice, although it dragged at times with all the going back and forth. It was also annoying that I couldnt view hints in certain rooms. I completed the game because the plot was bizarre and I wanted to see how it would end, but it definitely wasnt one of my favorites.

Boring. Whats remastered?

Boring. I usually like this genre. And dont let the stylish art fool you. Its used for a short intro movie at the beginning, the game is old really bad graphics.

Beneath a Steel Sky

Crashed / froze up twice. no way to reboot. Bought app again first time. Second time player simply walked off screen before freeze-up. Have to wonder if "freeze-ups" are built in to require repurchase (?).

GREAT CLASSIC!

This is an awesome adventure game from the time when story and good writing were most important elements in a game. This is no angry birds or call of duty so if youre looking for something more than mindless entertainment with shiny graphics youll not be disappointed. im looking forward to more classic games coming to ios.

Amazing

I remember watching my dad play this when I was in elementary school. Now Im in college and I still love it. Everything from the original game is back.

This game!

The game beneath a steel sky is one of the classic jewels from the 90s when games relied on story lines instead of graphics and multiplayer, the last few years however, great stories in games have been so sparse and almost restricted to indie games. Bringing this game back is a refreshment from my normal lifestyle of having to practice hours on end for a week before a major competition to place in a spot earning money. I am currently seventeen and many teens around me play video games, but few know what games are truly "good". All they do is complain about graphics, or how the campaign is too short, and refuse to play something old because its dated, I feel many people wont understand a game does not need to be old to be good either. L.A. Noire, Red Dead Redemption, and (a personal favorite) Heavy Rain, are all great games. It is quite hard to balance story and gameplay for they dont go together all that well, it is easy to terribly make a game but a great story (FF13) but even easier the other way around (CoD). Beneath a steel sky takes place in a future that seems to have suffered a tragedy of some sort. You play as Robert Foster a young man adopted by a group of people who live in a place known as "The Gap". The people cannot afford to live in the city, every one seeks guidance from, your adoptive father. One day the Hobart company comes and takes you without giving explanation. As the game progresses you learn why Foster was taken to the large and overbuilt Union City. The game was formerly a point and click "moving comic book" and it adapts quite well to the Iphone. There is little to be dissapointed about with this little known game (at the time Chrono Trigger was fairly close and that meant you wouldnt see the person for a week, unless you visited them after they grew a neckbeard, stopped showering, and over caffeinated living off of takeout). The point and click genre fits so well to the Iphone and this game is A MUST GET. There is no greater love than a man and his cube. Sile et philosophus esto.

Awesome.

Even now, over a decade after its original release, Beneath a Steel Sky is still a pleasure to play. The plot still holds up, even today. Its lighthearted and funny, but definitely has serious overtones. The voice acting is great, which is good, because theres a huge amount of it. This is just a rough estimate, but Im guessing that around a third of the 100+ megabyte file size of this game is taken up by the voice recordings. For anything/anyone you can talk to or interact with, theres always at least a sentence of voice acting to go along with it. With people, (or your talking robot friend,) that one sentence can usually be extended to five or more. And there are no repeats, either; each and every character in the game has something completely new to say. The controls in Beneath a Steel Sky are simple, but easy to use. You slide your finger over something in order to see if you can interact with it or not. After you select the object, you then you have a choice of either looking at it, trying to interact with it, or combining it with something in your inventory to see what will happen. As can be expected of a 10+ year old game, the graphics arent exactly revolutionary. However, the animations are solid, the intro cutscene is amazing, and I like the art style. So, it all balances out in the end. The sounds in this game are great. The music perfectly fits the tone of the game, and the sound effects are nice. Neither are ever overused to the point where they become annoying. With a top-notch story, amazing voice acting, good controls, decent graphics/animations, great sounds, and a huge amount of content in general, its no wonder that Beneath a Steel Sky is considered one of the best adventure games ever made. Buy it!

Steel Sky

Such a great, classic title. This is one of the better experiences Ive ever had with ios games. Classic games like this are few and far between. Great remastered update, with savestates and tips/hints (if you get stuck) to assist you, wether youre playing for hours on end, or just minutes at a time. Worth every penny! Still crossing my fingers for the in-the-works sequel!!
